WAUSEON, Ohio — An Ohio Turnpike toll plaza in Fulton County will close for almost four months beginning April 15.

Toll Plaza 34, which connects to the turnpike at state Route 108 in Wauseon, will undergo major construction work during the closure and is scheduled to reopen on Aug. 24, according to the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.

“The existing pavement at the toll plaza interchange will be removed and replaced with new asphalt, drainage and guardrails,” said OTIC chief engineer and deputy executive director Chris Matta.

The turnpike on Tuesday began a new toll collection system designed to make the roadway safer, faster and more effective, according to the commission.
